Welcome 2010
I never seem to learn my lesson, New Years Eve is a bad idea. It's so hyped up and crowded and overpriced with too many drunk people everywhere. This year was none the different. After a night of too much wine and vodka and about $75 in drunk dials to America and Eastern Europe I woke up at the crack of 3pm to start out my year of red. But first I needed food, so I headed to the nearest fast food joint, which I don't care to mention let alone admit I enjoyed. After consuming enough calories to keep a small third world country fat and happy for a month I headed out to make my coveted lipstick purchase. Having worked for MAC for the better part of my early 20's I obviously have a preference to which cosmetics I choose to indulge in. After picking out my perfect shade of lipstick (Lady Bug) and liner (Brick) I discovered Australia charges nearly double for the same items one would normally buy back home for say about $14 each. New Years Eve and Christmas made my little plastic baby tired and she was unable to fulfill the call of duty at this time. My Australian bank card has yet to come so I had to put the beautiful black matte boxes back and head to a retailer more in my price range for the day. Australian's have it right. They know how to party, relax and take time off. Every holiday warrants at least a few days off and New Years Day was no exception. Only lost tourists roamed the streets and less than a few stores and restaurants were open. Determined to start this resolution off on the right foot I scoured the streets until I came across a place that sold lipstick. Then there it was, the dreaded dollar store. Amidst its messy facade and crowded shelves I finally came across a teetering tower of cheaply packaged lipsticks. Remembering the time I was 12 and used to frequent such "boutiques" for makeup purchases, I made sure to buy more than one color, knowing they are never what they appear to be. I bought two and like I thought, one was hot pink, the other was perfect. With care and satisfaction I slapped that ruby pigment on my lips and drug my hungover ass to the Internet cafe to type this. I look and feel about as awesome as the discarded wrappers from my fast food feast but my lips are perfectly lined and glossed.

Red Is The New Black
Every year calls for a resolution. Some we keep, but most we don't. As the clock ticks down this New Years Eve day I have sat pondering what resolution I will make this year. I have come to the conclusion that red is going to be the new black of 2010. Therefore, I have decided to don a red pout for the entire year. I will wear some shade of red lipstick every single day of 2010, regardless if the occasion, outfit, hair and makeup are suiting. Yes, that means I will stream red down my face at the gym, sport it in sweats, wear it with pink and when I dont feel like putting makeup on at all, my pucker will be perfectly puniceous. So pucker up baby, this is going to be an interesting ride!
